Bill 'Billy' Mulligan - Player, Omaha

After an outstanding high school career, it was predicted that Billy Mulligan would make a real name for himself in the baseball world. That prediction certainly came true. Billy began his post high school career by attending Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, Iowa. Husker coaches spotted this talent and singed him in 1985 to attend the university of Nebraska. He immediately became a member of the starting rotation. This left handler had it all with speed, breaking pitches and control. The summer of 1985 he led the Beatrice Bruins to another successful season, leading a strong pitching staff. He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals and pitched for three years in their minor league system. On his return to the Omaha area, he was in real demand to pitch for numerous semi professional teams. Following his retirement he assumed the head baseball coaching assignment at Omaha South from 2006-2014. Billy was one of the finest left handlers to ever come out of Omaha.
